"On July 20, 1969, the human race accomplished its single greatest technological achievement of all time when a human first set foot on another celestial body.
Six hours after landing at 4:17 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (with less than 30 seconds of fuel remaining), Neil A. Armstrong took the “Small Step” into our greater future when he stepped off the Lunar Module, named “Eagle,” onto the surface of the Moon, from which he could look up and see Earth in the heavens as no one had done before him."

Can you believe, this year is the 40th anniversary !

I was serving as Communications Electronics Technician on the USS Boxer in the 60s and remember the excitement of the times. If you have any memories of the Gemini & Apollo missions that you would like to share, please post them as reviews.

USS BOXER LPH 4 Picked Up Unmanned Apollo 1 (AS 201)
This was not only the first flight of the Saturn IB rocket but the first real flight of a production Command and Service Module (CSM-009).

In this fun little app you try to land by tilting your iPhone. Tilt the top of your iPhone/Touch away from you to turn off the main thrust engine, tilt left or right to change your horizontal position.

The app also contains a couple audio clips of communications with Houston.
