4 Letters is:
A game designed to occupy children that already know their letters and and just getting started on reading. Three colorful pictures of 4 letter words are shown (both upper and lower case can be selected by the user) and a speaker says the name of a word. Your child can guess until they find the right answer. A reward screen is presented and allows them to play the sound again or go to the next question.
After getting the correct answer, you can click the dictionary icon if you would like to see the definition of the word.
This app is the result of feedback from users of my ABC Words app that requested a more advanced version.
I took a list of thousands of valid English 4 letter words and eliminated homonyms and words of foreign origins. I sent the final list of approx 2500 words to voice actor Troy Lund to record each one with proper pronunciation. Troy did a fantastic job and can be reached through his website at troylund.com
Your child will not know most of this words (abri, abet, abut, etc) this is the point. They will hear a word pronounced and have to try to see which spelling could be correct. If you play with your child and look up the definitions I'll bet you'll learn a few too!
