Moorland has been in the works for more than 20 years. Back in the early 1980's, I was writing software for Atari; taking standup video arcade games and creating them for the home game platforms of that age, such as the Apple II, IBM PC, and the Commodore 64. I had the privilege of writing several games; Joust, Ms. Pac Man, Moon Patrol and a few others. During that time, I was working with an artist who created a cute little blue creature named Moorland. Mark and I dreamed of all kinds of ways we could use Moorland. But in the late 1980's, the video game market came to a halt and nothing ever progressed with Moorland. Now, over 20 years later, video games are everywhere, and the platforms to run those games are in everybody's hands. I shared my long lost dream about Moorland with my two sons, and together, we decided it was time to make it real!
Moorland is an old arcade type of game. The player's goal is to master all 99 levels. There are no points to accumulate, and there is no time limit. Maneuver Moorland through each maze of blocks by walking and jumping, and be sure to watch out for bombs and little red guys! Make it past all the obstacles, get to the golden brick, and you will have mastered another level. You control when and where he moves… Do you have what it takes to survive all 99 levels?
