Rieko Akatsuka is a Japanese artist represented by Danielle Arnaud Contemporary Art (London), living and working in Tokyo.
She moved to England in 1994 and studied Fine Art, graduating from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
In 2002 she participated in ‘Centre of Attraction -The 8th Baltic Triennial of International Art’ in Vilnius, Lithuania and has participated in many other group shows in Europe, New Zealand and also Japan, where her first solo shows were held.

She is the daughter of Japanese cartoonist Fujio Akatsuka ('The King of Gag') and her first book, ‘My dad - crazier than Bakabon’s dad’ was published in 2010.
