Playing Tiny Wings reminded us when we first played Angry Birds or Cut the Rope and fell in love immediately. Tiny Wings is a big and wonderful game that will keep you playing for hours on end. This game has everything to not only make it a blockbuster but also to keep it near the top of the charts for a long time.

The concept behind this game is simple: help a bird fly as long as possible before night sets. The title comes from the fact your bird has tiny wings and therefore can’t lift off and stay aloft without some help. That help comes from a world filled with colorful hills acting as ski jumps. The game is filled with islands each with its own set of hills. As you progress, the hills become more challenging and your timing must be impeccable.


The only control available to you is folding the bird’s wings by touching the screen thus making it fall toward earth. Release your touch and the bird expands its wings to fly. Hitting a hill perfectly produces maximum liftoff to reach higher and higher into the sky and into the clouds. Points are accumulated by gobbling up coins on the hills, the distance you travel, touching the clouds and a few other ways.

The game ends when night reaches you. In the lower left corner lies a small box showing how close darkness is to creeping upon you. The sun is also viewable as it comes into your screen and begins to race ahead of you if you falter.

Once night falls the game ends and you must start from the beginning. However the developer did a nifty thing by changing the hills in every new game so it never feels redundant and keeps the game feeling fresh.

This game has all the key ingredients to make it a sustained hit: great music, a lovable character, character exclamations that are intoxicating and game play that is simple yet strangely addicting. Tiny Wings is pure magic.
