The hottest new apps for 2014

Now that we're well and truly into November, we'll soon be getting ready to say goodbye to 2014. It's been a big year for the mobile technology industry, with the release of some of the newest Apple products still getting people talking.

Alongside the newest iPhones and the Apple iWatch, the Cupertino-based company also released the highly-anticipated iOS 8 this September. The new operating system promised a whole host of new features from enhanced security to a new control center, as well as enhanced capabilities for gaming. With new gaming sites from Candy Crush to Jackpot City being launched every day, they're no challenge for the new operating system

With a great OS comes a set of great apps, more of which are being released into app stores every day. To celebrate the end of 2014, here's a list of the greatest apps you can find this season.

Flickr

For all iPad users, the good news is that Flickr is finally available on our favourite tablet. If you've never heard of it, Flickr is a photo-sharing host that allows users to upload, edit and share their photos on a social network. Users can keep track of how many followers they have and can also look for their favourite kind of photos with the new search function.

Skype Qik

Smartphone users who are a fan of Snapchat will love Skype Qik, the new app which allows users to send quick snippet videos to friends. You don't even need to have a Skype account to open up the app – all it requires is access to your contacts, and you will be able to send and receive videos which are stored for two weeks at a time.

Google News and Weather

Great for those who are always on the go, Google News and Weather keeps you abreast of the latest changes in your local area. The app is inspired by Google's home screen widget, so for those who have a Google Android phone, the software is efficiently designed and easy to use, particularly for these smartphone users.

FIFA 15 Ultimate Team

Now that the World Cup is over, many of us are still looking for our football fix. There's no better way of saluting the greatest sport in the world than by downloading the FIFA 15 Ultimate Team app. It lets users make their own ultimate teams by using every player available in FUT, bringing all the fun of fantasy football to your mobile.
