If you’re desperately trying to find either the new iPhone 5S or iPad Air, you might have stumbled upon Apple-Tracker.com. It looks like Apple has now shut the website down through a DMCA takedown notice. This might be because the site was suggesting that there were supply issues with the latest iOS products (which there were). The site was also replacing Apple’s own, harder-to-navigate stock checker.
Apple’s online store allows users to input a ZIP code to check stock of a device (one specific configuration, say "16GB Wi-Fi only Space Grey iPad Air") and then you can see the closest 20 stores' stock, spread out over four pages of listings. Meanwhile Apple-Tracker just required you to input your ZIP code and choose either the 5S or iPad Air, then see the closest 20 retail store locations.
Apple may be facing yet another shortage in a few weeks when the iPad mini 2 (with Retina) is released, which is expected to be hugely popular. It’s a shame that this website has been shut down now, since we won’t be able to see the in-depth stock information as quickly and easily.
