Photos claiming to be parts of the upcoming iPhone 6 were posted to the MacX forum. The user who posted the images claims he acquired the cable from an old junior high school classmate involved in the manufacturing industry in Shenzhen, China. Foxconn, Apple’s primary manufacturer, does have a factory in the area but the validity of these images is hard to guess.
The overall design of the microphone flex cable is very similar to previous iPhones. However it features additional grounding plates and an oval hole cut out above the connector. It’s expected that the iPhone 6 will be slimmer than previous models, so the cutout might be a space-saving measure.
The headphone jack is bigger than those in current iPhones. It’s possible that Apple might add a secondary loud speaker inside the headphone jack, explaining the increased size. However the sound quality produced by such a setup wouldn’t be great, and it’s unlikely that Apple would downgrade sound quality just to offer stereo sound.
