Apple is going to release the first public beta of OS X Yosemite on July 24. This means that anyone with a Mac can get access to the beta, even if they don’t have a developer account. However it’s restricted to the first 1 million people who sign up. If you haven’t registered, you can do so here.
This news comes from The Loop, which received this information from a meeting with Apple people earlier in the week. The first public beta is the same as the currently released build being tested by developers, and users won’t get updates as frequently as developers.
Before you install the update, remember that it is a beta product, and therefore shouldn’t be installed on any work-critical machines. Although it should be pretty stable by now, it’s certainly not going to be perfect and some applications might not work properly.
