Apple opening 2 UAE stores and one may be the biggest Apple Store in the world

Apple is looking into opening two Apple Stores in United Arab Emirates, and one of them could be the largest in the world. According to an industry source, the UAE could very well become the regional HQ for the company. Apple already has an office in Dubai, currently Business Bay Downtown. It used to be in Abu Dhabi. Job listings on the Apple site show that there are 26 different positions opening up in UAE stores and offices.

One source says that the Dubai store could be at the Dubai Mall or in the Mall of the Emirates. Another store, in Abu Dhabi, is expected as well. The one in Dubai is expected to be the largest in the world. No further details are available. Right now, the largest Apple Store is in Madrid, Spain, measuring in at about 71,700 square feet. The Dubai store is expected to open in 2015.

According to a spokesperson for Jacky’s Electronics in Dubai, there are pros and cons to any new development like this. Obviously, sales will go down across the board as Apple takes over some of that, but more Apple products will be available in the UAE, and sooner. Right now, it takes months for new releases to get to the area. With an Apple Store there, that timeframe might dissolve down to 15 to 30 days. Additionally, the overall sales of Apple products might improve.
