Some sources close to Apple have said that suppliers are getting ready to make the largest-ever iPad yet: one that measure 12.9 inches on the diagonal. These new iPads will be ready to start production by the first quarter of 2015. Right now, Apple makes the iPad with a 9.7-inch displays, and the iPad mini with a 7.9-inch display (diagonal). The same source said that Apple has been working with its suppliers for a year to try to get ready to release a new, larger range of iPad. A spokesperson for Apple refused to comment.
Sales of iPads have gone down for two quarters in a row and Tim Cook is determined to change the lineup, and has announced he’s not done with them. There haven’t been any new models lately and more consumers are going to smartphones with larger screens. The 9.7-inch iPad has been updated and is in production right now, and the same with a new iPad mini. Those are going to be available later this year for Christmas.
The iPhone 6 is also coming out soon, and many rumors surround what updates it will have. Many say that it will have a larger screen, and will be available in a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model.
