Apple adds two new channels to Apple TV

On Tuesday Apple added two new channels to Apple TV: Showtime Anytime and iTunes Festival. Showtime Anytime is an on-demand channel from the cable network and iTunes Festival is a dedicated channel for the upcoming festival happening in London, UK.

Showtime Anytime provides access to popular TV shows as well as live programming. Users have to authenticate with their cable provider before they can watch most of the content. The iTunes Festival happens in September, starting September 1, and is a series of concerts being put on in London. Apple TV owners will be able to watch either live shows or stream them. Before September 1, users can browse information such as the performance schedule, details on the Roadhouse, and the history of the festival. Performers for this year’s Festival include Lenny Kravitz, Pharrell Williams, Maroon 5, Mary J. Blige, and Tony Bennett.

These two channels are just the last of those added recently. Other channels added include CNBC, ABC News, and NFL Now. There were some questions as to whether Apple TV would see a refresh this year but it’s doubtful that will happen until 2015. There has, however, been rumors that we will see a small interface redesign to go alongside iOS 8.
