Apple sends out invites to September 9 event

Apple emailed out invitations to a September 9 event, confirming the date most people already had marked on their calendars. The invite says only 9.9.2014 and “Wish we could say more.” The invite is grey and white and shows a bit of the Apple logo, and nothing else. It’s expected that this event will showcase the new iPhone and possibly a wearable device. So far there has been no mention of a live streamed video like in recent years as with the WDC. The same as last year, the event will be held at Cupertino, California instead of a conference centre in San Francisco. The September events typically showcase Apple’s most important ducts and the iPhone 6, if made in bigger sizes as rumored, will certainly fit that bill.

CEO Tim Cook has said that the company would announce a new product category this year, the first since the iPad came out in 2010. This is what leads people to believe the iWatch or other wearable device will be announced. It’s also expected that presenters will announce the release date for iOS 8.
