Jony Ive, Apple’s chief designer, spent three years working on the Apple Watch with his team before it was announced on September 9 at the Apple launch event. Now the company is trying to get the watch onto everyone’s wrist, touting it both as a must-have device as well as a luxury fashion item. One such way was to give Vogue an interview with Jony Ive, the nice guy from Northeast London,is well-known for being private and staying out of the limelight. He did, however, decide to do the interview with Vogue to talk about the Apple Watch.
One of the things you’ll notice is how proud he is of the wearable device. He raved about the click you hear when you attach the watch to a wristband. “Isn’t that fantastic?” he said. He went on to say “I think what we sincerely try to do is create objects and products and ideas that are new and innovative, but at the same time there is a slightly peculiar familiarity to them.”
