It took Apple three days to sign up 1 million credit cards on Apple Pay

According to Tim Cook, it took Apple only three days to sign up one million credit cards with the Apple Pay system. It is now more popular than any other payment system.

During a technology industry conference, Tim Cook said “we’re more than the total of the other guys and we’ve only been at it a week.” He went on to say that the Apple Pay system is getting more use than other similar “contactless” methods of paying.

Apple Pay started last week in the United States only, and only applies to people with iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The partnership with large retail stores and major banks means there are a lot of people automatically included in the deal. Walgreen, McDonald’s, and Macy’s are all large chains that went along with Apple Pay. Companies against the service are Rite Aid Corp and CVS Caremark Corp.

Tim Cook says he has plans to discuss Apple Pay with Jack Ma, the executive chairman of Alibaba, the Chinese commerce giant. Earlier this week, Mr. Ma said he was interested in discussing bringing Apple Pay to China.
