WatchKit released today; Apple Watch app dev begins

Starting today, developers can start creating apps for the latest Apple device, the Apple Watch. The tech company released WatchKit today, which is the toolkit that allows debs to start coding and testing apps for the wearable device.

Apps will connect to the device in one of three ways: with a Watch app, with a  page added to the Glance’s screen, or through actionable notifications. The first has its own features and interface; the second provides small amounts of info that users can swipe through, like sports scores or news headlines; the third can be used to allow someone to read and respond to a message or to, say, change their home’s climate control.

The Apple Watch will come in two different sizes, and they will each have different display resolutions. The smaller version has a resolution of 272 x 340 pixels and the larger will have 312 x 340 pixels. Although the documentation from Apple makes it seem like that won’t be a problem, the fact remains that the resolution is different and so developers will have to work with that.
