iOS 6, the latest update to the iOS platform for iOS devices hasn't gone down overly well with customers. From a poor maps "upgrade" to general glitches, users aren't happy. If you are one of them and regretting upgrading to the iOS 6 platform, App Picker will help you get back to iOS 5. This won't work on the iPhone 5 though (it never had an iOS 5 version).
  1. Plug your phone in to your computer and open iTunes.
  2. Back-up data on your phone - use iCloud back-up.
  3. You now need to get a "IPSW" file for your device - MacLife has a comprehensive list here. Download the correct one for your device.
  4. Go to your device page in iTunes, hold Ctrl (Windows) or Option (Mac) while clicking "Restore" - this should open up a file explorer window.
  5. Select the IPSW file you downloaded in Step 3 and press Open.
  6. Wait for your iPhone to restore to iOS 5.
  7. Once it's complete, you can restore all your pictures, videos, and settings through iCloud without worry.
  8. If you get a prompt for an update, decline it (unless you want to do all this again!)
That's it: your iPhone should now be back on iOS 5, with Google Maps and a bug-free experience. Enjoy!
