Apple starting to sell refurbished latest iPad range

Apple’s online store has started to offer refurbished versions of their iPad lineup, saving you roughly $30-$50 off the regular retail versions. Unfortunately the only ones offered are the Cellular models, so if you’re looking for the cheapest iPad available, this isn’t it. A 16GB black iPad Mini (WiFi + Cellular) costs $429 refurbished, a saving of $30 over the new model. And a 16GB 4th Gen iPad (WiFi + Cellular) will cost $579 which is $50 off the new model.

So, should you go for these devices? If you don’t mind the refurbished element it’s a decent saving that might be better spent on some apps for the device. It’s not a huge saving granted, but it’s probably the best one you can expect on the latest Apple devices. Refurbished devices are ones that have been sold, perhaps used then sent back to Apple. Apple checks the device by testing it extensively, cleaning it and then putting it in new packaging. You’ll also get the standard one year warranty with the device.

Apple tends to hold off on selling refurbished versions of their products until mid-way through their product cycle with the iPad 3 refurbished models going on sale in August.
