If you’ve been in the market for a cheaper iPad mini, now might be the time to take a look fore one at the online Apple Store. Apple has started offering refurbished iPad minis again, starting at $299 ($30 off the regular 16GB, Wi-Fi price).

If you’re worried about how the device looks, don’t – Apple gives all refurbished units a new outer casing so the screen is free from scratches and the casing doesn’t have any dents. It’s essentially the same as a brand new one and even includes the same one-year warranty you’d get on the normal iPad mini.

Refurbished units are typically just devices that customers have returned. Obviously it’s not smart business practice to just throw them away, so Apple tests the unit for any issues and replaces the casing, then offers the refurbished unit for customers at a discounted price.

If you’re interested you should jump on the offer soon – the last time Apple offered refurbished iPad minis they ran out of stock quite quickly. Obviously stock is limited with these devices – Apple can’t control the amount of devices that get returned.

These might even be new units that the company is trying to shift before the expected update in the summer.
