The camera function is arguably the most popular feature for any handheld Apple iDevice. So, it should come as no surprise when Apple showed off its innovating commitment to the camera app by revealing a major redesign of the camera at their WWDC conference this week.

These changes are set to take place once Apple releases their new iOS 7 system this fall. Apple's Craig Federighi summed up the new changes by stating "Your camera in iOS 7 is four cameras in one," according to AppleInsider.com.

After gazing at the new changes and features, it's easy to see how Federighi came to this conclusion.

The following is a list of the new Camera features for the iOS 7:

  • There will be an invisible slider and no more shutter application
  • Easy to choose shooting options via a finger swipe at the bottom of the screen: video, panorama, normal and cropped (1:1)
  • 9 different filters to apply to your photos
  • Take photos in rapid succession

The following is a list of the new Photos app features for the iOS 7:

  • Group photos by date or location via the metadata tagging technology on the iPhone
  • Organize photos by collection, moments or years: each year shows a collection, each collection shows moments

In addition to a few more minor enhancements like photos enlarging when scrolling over them, Apple has also improved their iCloud photo sharing capabilities. In conclusion, Apple definitely stepped up their game in terms of increasing the importance, the value and the functions of their Camera. Users who have iPhone 5, and future models, will benefit the most from these new changes.
