App tells you when you’re in a store that uses Apple Pay

Apple pay will one day be offered everywhere in the United States and customers will no longer have to carry cash or credit cards. That future, though, is still far off. For now, most places don’t accept Apple Pay, so consumers need a way to know if the retail establishment they’re in even offers the payment system.

Now there’s a free iPhone app, called Chameleon, that started out as a shopping assistant but was just updated with a cool feature that informs shoppers when the store they are in accepts Apple Pay. On top of that, users will get points for opening the app when they walk in to certain retailers; for every 20 points collected, users will earn a $5 gift card. It also offers reviews, guided mall maps, the ability to check real-time inventory status, and coupons and deals users can redeem from their iPhones. The app works with devices using iOS 7.0 r later, is optimized for iPhone 5, and has a total of 45 customer ratings. It has an average of 4.5 stars.
