In front of the Apple Watch launch, Apple has hired the VP of Digital and Interactive Design from Burberry, Chester Chipperfield. He confirmed on his LinkedIn profile and Twitter that he was moving to Apple listed in a “Special Projects” position; otherwise, he didn’t talk about his new role.
Apple is looking to reorganize sections of the retail stores in order to display and sell the Watch, so he will probably have a lot to do with online sales and the mobile shopping app. Chipperfield is just one of several moves from Burberry to Apple. Former Burberry social media exec Musa Tariq was hired, and so was the CEO of Burberry, Angela Ahrendts. Other fashion executives have been hired like Patrick Pruniaux from Tag Heur, Paul Deneve from Yves St. Laurent, and Jacob Jordan from Louis Vuitton. Starting earlier in January, Apple has been preparing to ship the Watch by the end of March. The Apple Watch will ship in three collections and a variety of wrist band options.
