Photos app comes to OS X Beta

Apple has put out the Photos app for OS X in the beta feed, with its new AppleSeed program that allows people signed up to test out the software before it becomes available to the general public. The Photos app showed up in the Developer Preview at the beginning of last month, and Apple said it would show up in AppleSeed before the general release.

Anyone who has access to the public beta program for OS X right now can downed the version of 10.10.3, which will include the Photos app. It’s a faster version of the software, with an interface that looks a lot like what you see on an iPhone. There are manual and automatic filter options.

We’re not sure when the Photos app will become public; even though Apple has a launch event scheduled for March 9, but we don’t know it they’ll announce anything aside from the Apple Watch.
