Survey: over 60 percent of Apple Pay users having issues at checkout

Approximately two-thirds of Apple Pay users are having issues at shops, according to a report published this week by Phoenix Marketing International. The survey asked 3,000 people about their experiences, and they said in about 33 percent of the time, transactions didn’t work at least half the time. Forty-eight percent of people polled said it too long for the platform to process a transaction and 42 percent said the cashier didn’t know how the system worked. Some complained about being charged twice, or transactions being incorrect. Another survey published by Citi Research published yesterday confirmed these complaints.

According to a report from Apple Insider, it’s believed that there’s not enough merchant support because of the cost to upgrade the point-of-sale terminals needed to work with the iPhone Apple Pay system. Although American retailers have until October to upgrade, only 33 percent of them had switched by the end of last year, and Bloomberg says only about half of them will be done converting by the end of 2015.
