A report by the Wall Street Journal says that Apple Inc. is discussing with the six largest banks the plan to start offering Apple Pay in Canada this fall. The Bank of Nova Scotia, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, the Bank of Montreal, and the National Bank of Canada are all in talks with Apple to launch the service in Canada. This will be the first company outside of the United States with Apple Pay. The issues holding back the agreement have to do with the fees Apple wants to get from the banks as well as possible security issues.
Apple Pay first came out in the States in October and did well right out of the gate, but an increasing number of fraud with Apple Pay has given the Canadian banks some misgivings.
