CIBC is the first of the largest Canadian banks to launch an app for Apple Watch

CIBC, or the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, has announced that people who have the Apple Watch will be able to use the CIBC Mobile Banking app for performing banking functions while on the move. The other banks are still working on their relationships with Apple. The CIBC app at this point allows users to search out an ATM close by, check bank balances, and transfer funds. CEO of the bank, Victor Dodig, says that “If my consumers and clients want it, you embrace it and try to integrate it into your system.” He said it’s important to make banking tech safe and “One of the reasons we’ve been able to have a leadership position in technology is we’ve always embraced changes.” This is in direct contrast to the other banks which see Apple as a competitor rather than a partner.
