Apple warned its investors that if the European Commission investigation rules against Ireland, the amount the company may need to pay back is substantial. In a report filed with the SEC on Tuesday, Apple said it could be asked to pay up to 10 years of back taxes. The company said “As of March 28, 2015, the Company is unable to estimate the impact.”
EU regulators started their investigation against Ireland in 2014 and have looked into the way the country determined taxes owed by Apple Sales International and Apple Operations Europe.
