Apple posts details of its third-party Watch program

Designers interested in building third-party bands for the Apple Watch just got some more information about how they might go about it. Apple posted information about its Made for Apple Watch program on its website. The page shows technical specs about how to build lugs to meet the company’s standards and even offers to supply lugs for accessory makers if they don’t want to build their own.

Like with the other Made for programs, Apple will make sure that all the accessories made are up to the standards that Apple users expect. This means it’s difficult to get certification; third-party companies might be better off using the lugs Apple is willing to supply.

Don’t expect to see any official third-party bands for the Apple Watch anytime soon, because it will take some time before the program rolls out.
