If you want a gold-plated Apple Watch but just can’t afford the premium price Apple has placed on the upper-tier wearable device, then maybe it’s time for you to hie yourself to the nearest jeweler with a reputation for gold plating. When the tech giant announced just how much the solid gold Watch Edition would cost, many people were flabbergasted at the fact that one could buy a brand-new car for less money. Although there are a lot of rich people who would have no problem paying the full price, almost 100 percent of the Apple Watches ordered on April 10 were for the less expensive versions.
For anyone who wants a gold Apple Watch but doesn’t have the money to shell out for it, at least two companies have started offering gold-plating services for the Apple Watch starting at $399. One company is charging $3,500 to have the entire watch plated in 24-karat yellow gold, 18-karat white gold, or 18-karat rose gold.
