Turns out that Apple only gets a partial legal victory over Samsung

In late 2013, Samsung was found guilty of violating Apple's intellectual property. In other words, Samsung got blasted for copying Apple. However, it seems that Samsung got a bit of a reprieve from the harsh $930 million sum awarded to Apple. According to a report by Engadget.com, a Federal Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Samsung only needs to pay $548 million. That's roughly a 40% discount.

Basically, Samsung was guilty of infringing upon Apple's trademarks and patents, but not to the severity of initially ruled. Although, Samsung would have liked to clear its name completely, a huge discount in the damages owed is a great consolation prize.

These two tech giants continue to wage war against each other across the globe. Not only are their battles in the courtrooms but also in the competitive tech markets. From tablets to smartphones and televisions, Apple and Samsung continue to battle it out for who is the top dog in each tech niche.
