Even though Apple Maps doesn’t have as many features as Google Maps, it’s slowly been taking over the market share since it came out in 2012. According to a report from Apple Insider, the version for China is giving us a hint as to what features we can expect from the updated version in iOS 9. It’s not surprising that China has very quickly become an important market for Apple; the country is actually neck and neck with the United States when it comes to Apple’s largest market. The app is much better for people within China compared to what users from the rest of the world see of China’s maps, which is good. There aren’t any transit directions and everything works exactly the same, but the data is different. Metro stations are clearly marked the satellite data is much better than that of Google Maps, and you can even see traffic light indicators for controlled intersections. On top of that, the subterranean metro station tunnels are clearly mapped.
