This afternoon, Apple’s facility in Mesa, Arizona caught fire. According to a report from ABC 15 Arizona, it was a second-alarm fire that started just before 11:30 am on solar panels on the roof over a loading dock. The facility, on East Elliot Road near South Signal Butte Road, is going to be used as a data processing plant. None of the inside structure got burnt. The second alarm was called to make sure all necessary resources showed up to stop the blaze traveled to other sections. With the size of the facility it would have been very difficult to regain control if lost. Crews from Superstition, Gilbert, and Mesa all worked together to put the fire out in about 35 minutes.
Approximately 50 employees were evacuated, with no injuries reported. The cause is still under investigation.
