China selling hollow iPhone 5C for $16

The iPhone 5C is probably the most leaked device of the current generation of Apple products - we've now seen almost all of the device including the bright colors being considered for the back. There's a huge amount of leaked parts going around and so some entrepreneur has decided to re-create the iPhone 5C for 98 Chinese Yuan (around $16).

A German Apple news blog (Apfelpage.de) ordered this item from China and got a box containing just the hollow shell by itself – no accessories. The display isn't made of glass but is actually plastic (the actual device will almost certainly have a glass screen since that's what capacitive displays require). Other than that the device looks almost exactly like we've already seen.

The back shell on this "model" has an FCC logo which suggests that if it's made up of genuine parts then Apple has got FCC approval on the device. Of course it could be just a replica and the creator just printed the FCC logo to look more authentic.

The iPhone 5C will be shipping in the fall alongside the iPhone 5S and will be the lower-priced iPhone that many analysts have been calling for. It's thought that the C will stand for color.
