So we already know that the iPhone 5C is aimed right at China; Apple has been struggling in the market for a long time and this product suits the Chinese market perfectly. Apple is thought to be releasing the device on China Mobile after finally coming to an agreement. It’s a huge deal for the company since China Mobile is the largest cellular carrier with over 700 million subscribers.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple has starting preparing shipments of the iPhone 5C to China Mobile. We don’t know if the carrier will launch the device around the same time as other networks (20th of September) or if it’ll be delayed for CM to launch their TDD-LTE network (as reported.
Apple will hold the announcement for the iPhone 5C on the 10th of September and it’ll be followed by a Chinese media event a few hours later. It’ll be priced around $400 so it’ll undercut the iPhone 5S by a significant margin. It won’t be directly competing though: rumors suggest the hardware will be closer to the iPhone 5 and feature a plastic shell instead of the more premium design of the 5 and 5S.
