Math Plus app review: boost your math skills and provide a much needed kick start to your grey matter

Reviews

Introduction

Whether you are six, sixteen, or sixty-six years old, you’re going to absolutely love what Math Plus has to offer. With a wide range of progressively challenging bouts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and more, you’ll feel like a MENSA candidate in no time at all!

Although the math problems don’t start off particularly difficult, I love the fast-paced feeling to the game, and knowing that you’re playing to a time limit really helps to keep you engaged so you can access those neural pathways a little faster and really get the neurons firing.

160 Stages of Math Mayhem

There is actually a pretty heavy amount of content in this game. Each level is focused on a particular type of math problem, and these include the following:

  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Multiplication
  • Division
  • Arithmetic
  • Fractions
  • Powers
  • Statistics
  • Equations
  • Mixed

Each of these levels contains 16 unique stages, each becoming progressively more difficult than the last and offering slightly different challenges each time.

Please note that this is the free version of Math Plus - THE Mental Math Trainer for Young and Old so only Addition and Subtraction are available without buying more via in-app purchase. This does provide you with 32 stages, however, which should be more than enough to keep you busy for a while.

Maintain Your Focus

Using the Addition level as our example, the stages start out reasonably simple, presenting you with problems such as “10 + 7” and giving you a choice of three different answers.

As you move through each stage you’ll notice that the presentation of the questions changes, sometimes laid out as “10 + ? = 17” or “17 = ? + ?” This means that you don’t have the chance to get comfortable with a particular way of doing things and you’ll have to keep readjusting your focus to attack the problems from slightly different angles.

The longer you take the answer, the more points you lose, and you can earn up to three stars per stage by answering the questions correctly in a timely fashion. But don’t rush! Take your time, make sure your answer is correct, and you’ll soon be earning three stars on even the most nefarious of problems.
