FM Navi app review: transmit to any FM frequency directly through your iPhone or iPod touch

Reviews

Introduction

This is a very handy little app that enables you to combine your iPhone or iPod touch with an AUVIO™ FM transmitter in order to play all manner of FM frequencies directly through your mobile device without the need for any additional software or equipment.

The best streaming radio apps for iPhone and iPad

While I think this is a very good idea for an app, I’m not entirely sure how well the developer has managed to put this app together because it does seem to be pretty temperamental from time to time.

Even with the AUVIO™ FM transmitter, you still need to leave FM Navi open at all times because there is no support for background running or multi-tasking.

Worth Checking Out

I would like to preface this review by simply mentioning that I think FM Navi is well worth checking out; however, you might want to check out some of the reviews on the iTunes description page before investing in an AUVIO™ FM transmitter because quite a few users appear to be having issues.

The best iPhone apps for live streaming-2021

If you do like the look of what you see and you’d like to give this app a run for its money then all you basically need to do is open up the app, plug in your FM transmitter, and you should be ready to start listening to various FM frequencies through your iPhone or iPod touch.

You can transmit music from your device at any frequency from 88.1 to 107.9MH, and the control system for adjusting frequencies is very straightforward, involving a simple wheel which you can spin, or three customizable preset buttons for storing your favorite stations.

Issues With the FM Transmitter

You can also control all aspects of playback from within the app, with all of the usual play, pause, and other navigation buttons included in the simplistic interface.

Speaking of the interface if the standard blue isn’t really your color then you’ll be pleased to know that you can adjust the color palette as you see fit until you find a color scheme to best suit your tastes and add a little bit of visual flair to your audio adventures as well!

FM Navi also displays a minor amount of the metadata of each song you play, including basic track information.

Final Words

All in all, this is a reasonably well-put-together app but the issues with the AUVIO™ FM transmitter definitely make me hesitant to give it anything more than a middle-of-the-road review.

I would still suggest checking FM Navi out but you might want to keep the receipt for your FM transmitter.
