Introduction

This is a very well-designed weather forecasting app which features a great-looking interface and tons of detail, including 7-day and hourly time frames so you can always catch an accurate look at the weather conditions in your local area.

There are maybe three or four styles of interface which are extremely common in weather apps, and WTHR SkyTrak Weather uses one of the lesser-known ones which I actually prefer over many other variations.

This is a great app with an excellent interface and a load of content that you can always rely on for accurate weather reporting.

Come Rain or Shine

The first time you use WTHR SkyTrak Weather, it will use your device’s integrated GPS in order to determine your current location and save it so that you can receive weather forecasts for your local area.

The Live Doppler section is where you’ll find live radar map imagery delivered directly from the Doppler 13 Radar, and the Interactive section includes a slightly more animated app which can be used to look at a variety of weather conditions such as a clouds, storm cells, hurricanes, and more.

The layout of this section appears to be a little messed up, almost as if it were designed for Landscape mode without actually supporting it. Some of the option panels are almost entirely off of the right edge of the screen so aren’t really available for use, but this doesn’t seem to affect the user-experience too much.

 

Awesome Interface

Moving on, we have the main Forecast section which includes a look at the 7-Day Forecast, as well as an hour-by-hour forecast for Indianapolis, displaying information such as the temperature, wind chill, chance of precipitation, and wind speed and direction.

These same details can also be obtained for your local area by tapping on the My Location button, so you can still get a detailed breakdown of the weather in your area even if you live on the other side of the globe.

There are loads of other features within this app such as traffic reports, global weather for travelers, severe weather alerts, and much more. This is a great app with only a few minor flaws so I would definitely recommend taking it for a test spin to see how you like it.
