With the advent of social networking, selfies have become supremely superfluous, and with a super app like Selfie.im on your iPhone, you’ll be able to easily document your day-to-day activities and share them with the world in a fun and amusing fashion.

While this isn’t really an app that I can imagine myself using very often, I can certainly see the appeal to having a selfie-based Timeline for people to share funny or provocative pictures of themselves.

If you’re a big-time Facebooker or tweeter then you’re going to have an absolute field day with this app so I would definitely checking it out and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

When you first start using Selfie.im you’ll be prompted to log in to use the service, but you’ll be pleased to know that you can do this by using either your Facebook or Twitter account.

This is a feature that always gives a good first impression in my books because it demonstrates that the developer has the user-experience in mind and has fully integrated the app with social media sites to make things just that little bit more convenient.

Don’t worry though because as the introduction page of this app states: “We don’t post selfies to Facebook & Twitter. Our users are respectful, fully clothed, & play nice.”

Self-Destructing Self Shots

From here, you’ll be presented with a Timeline, through which you can either tap the You & Friends tab to view selfies taken by your buddies, or the Everyone tab which simply shows the very latest photos that have been posted to the service.

These pictures are all presented in a news feed fashion, and when you tap on a picture you can “Like” it, and also see other pictures that have been posted by the user, with the added option of even being able to “Request a Selfie” if you’d like to see more of them.

When you post a selfie yourself, you can specify how long you’d like it to remain on the Timeline, after which point it will be removed and your four hours, three days, or two weeks of fame will come to a sudden and untimely halt!

I think that Selfie.im is a great way of sharing some of your, shall we say, less-than-flattering photos with the world in a slightly more controlled fashion than simply throwing them up on your Facebook timeline, so it definitely receives a recommendation from me.
