SF Climates app review: extensively detailed weather forecasting for 17 of San Francisco's neighborhoods

Introduction

If you should happen to be a resident of sunny San Francisco then you’re definitely going to want to use SF Climates as your weather forecasting app of choice. It provides dedicated coverage of the weather conditions for 17 different neighborhoods throughout the city.

This definitely isn’t the most detailed of weather apps that I’ve ever come across but I do think that the developer has done a wonderful job of providing San Franciscans with a dedicated resource for grabbing accurate forecasts while on the go.

When you first start using SF Climates you’ll be presented with a visual map view of the city, displaying the 17 different neighborhoods with a graphical overview of the current weather conditions and the actual name of the location as a label underneath.

If you prefer a more text-based medium then you can tap the By Name tap at the top of the screen to view the neighborhoods as a list. Whichever view you choose, you can tap on the name of one of the neighborhoods to bring up some more information.

When you view the Currently section of a given neighborhood, you’ll be able to see much of the usual information you’d expect from an app of this kind, including low and high temperatures, wind speed and direction, and a general overview of the current conditions.

 

Wonderfully Simplistic Design

I feel like I repeat myself a heck of a lot when I write reviews of weather forecasting apps, but I would like to mention that although this app utilizes a fairly generic interface design. It’s nice to see developers opting for a slightly different design than the one or two that I constantly see repeated in the App Store.

There is, in my opinion, a large emphasis placed on simplicity within this app. I really like the way that you can very easily grab a quick at-a-glance view of the current weather conditions without being hindered by clutter or unnecessary features.

You’ll also be pleased to know that you can view the weather conditions for the coming week as well as today’s conditions. This app should definitely provide the 'Franciscans amongst you with more than enough information to keep you one step ahead of the weather.

Final Words

There isn’t much more for me to say about SF Climates other than to simply reiterate that it has a wonderfully simplistic layout which is clear and concise. There is certainly more than enough information for San Franciscans to justify using it as their sole source of weather information.

This is a great addition to the Weather category of the App Store.
