Introduction
Whether you want to lay down some basic drum loops or drop the bass and launch into a full on Dubstep or Brostep soiree, this is an awesome app that will have you skanking your way into oblivion as you lay down some raucously raunchy beats.
The best keyboard apps for iPhoneI’m definitely not a fan of Dubstep, and allow me to emphasize this: I am definitely not a fan of Dubstep!
Despite my fairly eclectic musical taste, I just can’t quite seem to get my head around the warped and twisted genres and sub-genres of music that seem to be eeking their way into the mainstream over the past several years.
I’m going to stick with my progressive rock bands, but for you guys out there who do like things to be more on the electronic side, you’ll definitely want to check out this app as it is admittedly pretty cool!
Drop the Bass
The first thing that leapt to my attention when I first started using DUBSTEP / Loops / Keyboard / Drums was the user interface. It actually looks very good, utilizing a modern and minimalist format to deliver a truly simplistic and streamlined user experience with pretty much no learning curve to speak of.
Best iphone and ipad appsHaving played with electronic beat boxes and samplers a few times in the past, I was already quite clear on the basic premise of the app. There’s certainly something special about laying it out on an iPhone, or especially the larger display of an iPad, and just letting rip with some killer beats.
The sound quality is also rather impressive, and I would liken it to CD-quality sound, which I think is all you really need from an app like this. You won’t get professional-level quality from DUBSTEP / Loops / Keyboard / Drums but it definitely is good for entertainment purposes.
Loop the Loop
Within this app, you’ll find a six-piece Dubstep drum kit that should be more than enough to allow you to crank out some cool beats. There is also a wobble bass keyboard that has to be heard to be believed. You’re going to have a lot of fun with this, I assure you!
My only complaint about this app is that there is no facility for recording your loops and beats. It seems like a fairly obvious feature to include in an app of this kind so I find it quite surprising that it hasn’t been added; however, perhaps we will see it in future updates.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Six-piece Dubstep drum kit
- Wobble bass keyboard
- Awesome HD Retina interface
- 40 MPC-style loop and sound effect pads
Cons
- There is no facility for recording your creations
Final Words
DUBSTEP / Loops / Keyboard / Drums could definitely benefit from the addition of a recording feature, but apart from that, there isn’t really anything negative to say.
This app definitely receives a recommendation from me.
