Skyward Mobile Access app review: a great app for parents, students and teachers

Reviews

Introduction

The Skyward Mobile Access app is a great way to get information from your local school board on all the goings on regardless if you are a parent, student, or teacher.

The best college apps for iPhone and iPad

I will provide the note to this review now: for Skyward Mobile Access to work your school district must be using it. You can find this out by just contacting your local school board and see if they utilize this software.

Keep Up-To-Date With Everything At Your School

This is the second time I have reviewed an app of this type, but I feel I should disclose that all the screen shots contained here are very generic. I do not have children myself but have friends who are teachers, and are parents who use this software. In the interest of protecting both the children of the parents who allowed me to try Skyward Mobile Access, as well as the students of the teachers who allowed me to try their side of this app, I have chosen not to include screen shots of the exact accounts I used. I'm sure every reader will respect that decision. Now on to the review.

The best iPhone apps for parents

Whether you are a parent, student, or teacher, the Skyward Mobile Access app has something for you. As a student or parent you can view your present grade in any course and compare that to the rest of your class to see where you sit in the curve. You have a list of when your classes begin and end, as well as a list of all holidays for easy calendar making. Did I mention that Skyward Mobile integrates perfectly with your iOS calendar? Well it does, which makes setting up a sitter or organizing an activity with other children that day so much easier.

Complete Access For Teachers On The Go

If you are a teacher and have already been instructed on how Skyward Mobile Access works, this is nothing new. But for those of you out there who have no idea what this app can do, pay attention because you may really enjoy the options you have available to you.

The best iPhone and iPad apps for baby monitoring

Regardless if you are in the classroom, or on a train to your parents', you have full access to all of your student's records and grades. This means you no longer have to take hard notes when you are reading papers on a trip and then head back to the school to input the student's mark. Now you have that ability all within your iOS device.

You can also put in said student's attendance and any disciplinary actions you had to take. This is viewable by the parent and student so gone are the days of a parent-teacher meeting where the parents have no clue why their child was underperforming or behaving badly.

Oh, and there's one more thing for teachers: your payroll days are listed in your calendar as well.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • A great way for parents and students to track their progress
  • Teachers can grade on the fly and include detailed notes on a student's behavior and attendance
  • The app integrates perfectly with your iOS calendar so all important dates are easy to see

Cons

  • There is nothing negative to say about this app

Final Thoughts

Skyward Mobile Access is a great app and a great new way for parents, students, and educators to stay on the same page and gauge a child's progress. If your school district doesn't have this software yet, contact them and suggest it. At the end of the day it will save a lot of miscommunication and loss of information. The goal of the Skyward Mobile Access app is to take the education system to the next level and promote discussion among everyone involved.
