EZ Battery Life is a small one-screen app that shows you at a glance how much battery life remains for playing music, watching a movie, talking on the phone, and more. It is a free app, and it's colorful. It is minimally customizable, but not overly accurate.

If you find yourself without a charger, or you have one but no power outlet, an app such as EZ Battery Life is helpful to give you an idea of how much longer your device will have power.

I downloaded this app on my daughter's iPod touch 2 and I use it to check music time before I send her to the babysitter. Since she only uses it for about an hour a day, I never really have to charge it, but every Tuesday night, I open up the app to check that she has enough battery for the next day.

What It Can Do

When you launch EZ Battery Life, there is a battery at the top of the screen indicating percentage of life left. If you have an older device such as my iPod touch 2, then this is useful as you cannot get the percentage indicator on the main screen. You will also see at the bottom, that there is a “recharge time” indicator. This is not completely accurate, as recharge time varies depending on how you have plugged in your device. It is nevertheless useful as you have a rough idea of how long it will be before you can make that important phone call, or simply if your device will be ready before you leave the house.

Additionally, there are gauges for time left for you, talk time 2G, talk time 3G, Internet 3G, Internet WiFi, audio playback, and video playback. This list is minimally customizable, as you can remove some of the less important meters, but this is the full repertoire of meters.

Although there are limitations, this is a free app, and there are not an absurd amount of pop-up ads. There is an ad bar at the bottom of the app showing their funders, but it is not obnoxious.

Final Thoughts

EZ Battery Life is a great little app for estimating how much time you have left until your next charge, and it also tells you how long that charge will take. I have been using it for a couple months now, and really have no complaints.
