DataMan Pro app review: lets you know when, where, and how you used data, every hour, every day

Reviews

Introduction

With detailed analytical tools, data usage alerts, and full support for any carrier, this app should provide you with everything you could ever possibly need to keep a firm grasp on your data plan to make sure you never go over. DataMan Pro is “Your superweapon against overage!”

The best accounting and bookkeeping apps for iPhone

I think that this is a great idea for an app, and there certainly are a lot of features available in the interface. The price tag of $4.99 is a fair bit higher than I would have expected for a tool of this kind, but let’s take a closer look to see if this app is really worth the money.

Keep a Firm Grasp On Your Data Usage

DataMan Pro : Track Data Usage In Real-Time certainly doesn’t waste any time, and as soon as you start using it you’ll be required to go through the Set Up process to enter your data plan details and make sure the information you receive is as accurate as possible.

The best Mobile Inspection apps for iPad

You’ll need to specify things such as whether your data plan is monthly, weekly, or daily, as well as what day of the month the billing cycle begins, and of course, exactly what your Data Cap is in GB, MB, and KB.

You also need to specify how much data you’ve already used for the billing period, and once this is done you’ll be presented with the main home screen. Here is where you’ll be able to see what percentage of your data allowance you’ve used so far.

The main home screen also enables you to see how many days are left until your next billing cycle begins, as well as how much data you’ve transferred, both via 3G and Wi-Fi.

Avoid Paying Overage Fees

The forecasting feature in this app is very cool. The color of the screen will change based on how close you are to hitting your data cap, and over time the algorithms will help the app to learn how to accurately forecast your usage so that you’ll know if you need to slow down a little.

The best iPhone apps for task management

If you swipe right you’ll be able to access the Settings menu, and from here you can set up Usage Alerts, amend your Data Plan, and even Share Screenshots with your friends and family via Facebook, Twitter, email, and text message.

Swiping up on the main home screen also provides a ton of awesome analytics for your data usage, including a chronology of your usage, how much data various apps have been using, and even from which locations you’ve been using your data.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Keep a firm grasp on your data usage to ensure you never have to pay overage fees
  • Receive Smart Forecasts letting you know if you’re likely to exceed your Data Cap
  • Smart Forecast learns and becomes more accurate over time
  • See When, How, and even Where you are using the most data
  • Share screenshots of your usage with others online via Facebook, Twitter, email, and text message

Cons

  • There is nothing negative to say about this app

Final Words

I think that DataMan Pro : Track Data Usage In Real-Time is a great idea for those of you who want to keep an eye on how much data your youngsters are using when you’re the one who has to foot the bill.

This app looks awesome and clearly has a ton of great features. I would also add that it is, by a large margin, the best app of its kind that I’ve ever come across.

The price tag of $4.99 is still a little high for my liking, but I can definitely see it being justified for the more irresponsible ones amongst you, and at the very least it will give you a much clearer idea of exactly how much data you’re using up by streaming all those Beyonce videos on YouTube!
