Very Limited Trial Tease

Allowance & Chores Bot Free: Allowances, Chore, Rewards, Punish, Sync allows you to set up an account and try out the app. It is a very limited trial, however, as you can only add one child and one chore. Each child can have a specific avatar from a choice of 16. Alternatively you can choose a photo of your child.

The main menu  must be unlocked by a parent passcode to add and approve the completed tasks. By clicking on chores, you are presented with a five-day span across the top with the child’s name. You can assign additional chores from this screen. After the assign screen, you click "Add" in the top right corner. With the free trial, you are limited to one chore, so you may want to list several here if you want a proper trial before purchasing for $2.99.

Lots of Features

Allowance & Chores Bot Free: Allowances, Chore, Rewards, Punish, Sync has many features that you may remember from your childhood. The first is a graph which shows you the frequency at which you, your partner, your children, or anyone else using the full version, do the chores. This is just like checking it off on the chore chart on the fridge. The next is the chores list, then your approval, an area for spending so that if you have not paid them yet or they are spending ahead you can track it, reward (if you have a pay-per-completed-item such as shoveling the driveway); and punish if you have to take a bit away for not taking out the trash. It allows you to add a value to each chore individually to add up to the total amount you would give them each week.

I appreciate all of the options, because the kids will often ask to purchase something, but haven't saved enough money yet. I always first say to them that they must wait two more weeks before they have enough money, but also present them the option of paying me back. There are many items in life that you now get a loan for, and this teaches them both to save and also to pay back loans on time.

Final Thoughts

Allowance & Chores Bot Free: Allowances, Chore, Rewards, Punish, Sync for iPhone and iPod touch is a great app for tracking your child(ren)’s allowance. It not only tracks the money itself, but allows you to add a value to each chore, and conversely allows you to deduct the money from the total if the chore was not completed. This is a great learning tool!
