Delivered direct to your iPhone and iPad from the good folks over at the 9&10 News studios in Traverse City is this full-featured weather forecasting app, providing up to 10 days' worth of advance weather forecasting so that you can always remain one step ahead of the weather.
This app utilizes a tried and tested formula in terms of its appearance and overall layout, and I’m very impressed with how well the 9&10 News service has integrated with it. Having a dedicated meteorological service for Michigan residents should prove to be quite invaluable.
Doppler 9&10 is a very solid development as far as I can see, so I would definitely recommend checking it out.
The first thing you’ll see upon starting up Doppler 9&10 is the Map section. This essentially doubles up as the main home screen for the app, and I would imagine that you’ll be getting the majority of your weather information here.
This section displays radar map imagery which shows the movement of past and future rain, snow, and other weather fronts as they make their way across your region. You’ll also see a basic overview of the weather conditions for today, yesterday, and tomorrow.
To ensure you’re getting weather information that is entirely relevant to your local area, I would recommend tapping the house icon in the top-right corner. This will enable you to use your device’s built-in GPS so that you can fix the app on your current location within a few seconds.
You’ll also notice that you can save more than one location into this app, so this is definitely a feature that is worth using if you have a lengthy work commute or you perhaps frequently visit relatives out of town.
In addition to the basic weather forecasting that you’ll find in the 10 Day and Hourly sections, the Video section is also well worth taking a look it. In here you’ll find live streaming and archived video footage from the good people at the 9&10 News studios in Traverse City.
It’s great to see a dedicated weather service for you Michigan residents out there, and having the Video section providing a more audio-visual medium is simply the icing on an already very sweet cake!
Doppler 9&10 isn’t the most original development that I’ve come across as far as weather apps are concerned, but it definitely delivers on all of its promises and does its job with flying colors.
If you live in or around Michigan, particularly the Traverse City region, then you’ll definitely want to keep this app handy on your iPhone and iPad.
