WSFA Doppler 12 Storm Vision app review: harness the power of WSFA 12 News for Central Alabama weather

Reviews

Introduction

What we’ve got here is a full-featured weather forecasting app which has been designed in conjunction with the good folks over at the WSFA 12 News studios to provide a dedicated meteorological service for residents of Central Alabama and the surrounding regions.

The best magazine apps for iPad

This is a pretty run-of-the-mill weather forecasting iPhone and iPad app which features a very similar style of interface and overall layout to many comparable apps within the same genre.

Although this is far from being the most original of developments, it definitely appears to run very smoothly and with an extensive set of features and content. I would definitely recommend taking a look if you’re in the need for some reliable weather forecasts.

Dedicated Weather Forecasting for Central Alabama

As I mentioned in the introduction, WSFA Doppler 12 Storm Vision is very similar to other apps within the Weather category of the App Store, providing a fairly standard range of features, including things such as:

  • Live Radar Map Imagery;
  • 10-Day Weather Forecasts;
  • Hourly Forecasts;
  • Severe Weather Notifications; and
  • Video Content.

The live radar map imagery is found in the Map section of the app which also doubles up to serve as the main home screen. You’ll be able to view past and future movements of various weather fronts as they make their way across your home region.

You’ll also notice that the Map section provides a basic overview of the current conditions, detailing factors such as the temperature, precipitation, and the wind speed and direction. Additionally, this section includes a summary of the weather for today, yesterday, and tomorrow.

View 10 Days' of Weather Forecasts

The 10 Day section is great for getting a general idea of what you can expect from the weather over the next week or so. I would definitely recommend using this format if you’re planning a vacation or road trip as you can also use the Locations menu to search for forecasts for other parts of the country too.

If you need a little more detail then the Hourly section is more likely to deliver what you need. This section includes an hour-by-hour breakdown of today’s weather, including details such as high and low temperatures, chance of precipitation, and more.
