The TRUTH or DARE!!! - FREE app allows a group of up to 20 players to compete in this digital form of a classic game. When you launch the app just choose the amount of players and enter each player's name. From there simply shake your device and a player is chosen at random. That player can either choose Truth or Dare, and the app will give the guidelines the player has to abide by to advance. As each player finishes the assigned task, just shake your device again for the next player and challenge.

The more players you have for TRUTH or DARE!!! - FREE the better. I tested the app multiple times with anywhere from two to 10 players. I found, especially when there are only two or three players, that a single player's name would come up multiple times in a row. Unfortunately once a player is chosen by the app, he or she has to choose a task before you can try for an alternate person. This means the same person could be chosen six or more times in a row before someone new gets a turn.

There was one major issue I did find with this game: occasionally my iPhone didn’t detect when I shook my phone to prompt the next turn. Regardless how hard, or for how long I shook my device, the app didn’t progress. So I had to shut the app down and restart it.

There are a few ads, which can be removed via an in-app purchase. But the ads are hardly intrusive, and don’t distract from the gameplay at all.

 

Parental Discretion Is Advised

It should be said that there are a few mature themes, and slightly sexual questions and dares. There's nothing here as outrageous as we all have experienced when playing the traditional game, but I would recommend that this game be reserved for those 14 and up. Don’t worry there’s no “show me your privates,” or “run around the block in your underwear” -type tasks. It’s more along the lines of suggestive questions, or kissing someone in the group. But it’s definitely a PG-13 rating.

Final Thoughts

The TRUTH or DARE!!! - FREE app for iPhone and iPad is a fun new way to experience a game we have all played in the past. It has few shortcomings that will most likely be solved with a minor update. It is a great way to relive this fun party game in a whole new way.
