Medicinal Plants and Drugs guides you to the right remedy for your ailment. What I appreciate about this app is that it does so without an Internet connection! If you are out of country and have a tummy ache, than you can use your phone without getting the very expensive data roaming charges!

You can easily navigate among plants by next and previous buttons, and also share your findings on Facebook. If you are like me and like to take notes, you can do this right in the app, and also add them to a favorites list. Have a friend or family member who doesn’t use Facebook? No problem, you can email it! I often find myself looking up herbs and plants to help friends and family, and the email feature is great!

Medicinal Plants and Drugs has a photo of each plant in the index for you to look at before you click. This is helpful if you are in your garden and trying to decide if you planted this or that. Sometimes plants look similar, and a photo helps; other times, it is better to ask an expert as plants can be toxic! It is great that there is a photo reference, but be cautious if the plant is not from a well-known source such as your own garden or a trusted friend’s garden, or a reliable retailer of plant extracts.

That being said, this is an excellent compendium of plants to be used for medicinal purposes and as an alternative to rehab. As mentioned above there are detailed descriptions of the various plants and also the medicinal uses. For many of the plants the description goes into origins of the plant and also cultivation for those interested in adding to their herb garden. This was especially helpful to me as I prefer to grow my own herbs.
