This iPhone and iPad app is the perfect companion for any of you who frequently use the MTA Long Island Rail Road, providing a host of great features that will ensure you are always able to stay one step ahead of the schedule and never miss a train again.
I’m sure it probably goes without saying that this is a must-have app for frequent users of the LIRR. The developer has done a very thorough job of covering the entire network, with all of the information presented in a slick, streamlined interface that you’ll have no trouble finding your way around.
This is a very solid development with a host of great features beyond the basic train time schedules, so I would definitely recommend keeping it handy for when you next need to hop on a train.
LIRR TrainTime features an extensively detailed section for the very latest in train updates, including the status of specific trains, fares, and of course, the schedules themselves. Any other additional information such as deals and special offers will also be displayed here.
The Service Status information is must-view stuff if you’re a regular user of the LIRR, as it will alert you to any delays or line closures in a prompt fashion, and you’ll be notified well in advance of any upcoming changes to the service as a whole.
As well as being able to view information on trains, you can check out specific stations, with the option to quickly access the one that is closest to you by using your device’s integrated GPS. This will also show you bus and taxi information, parking availability, and the opening hours of ticket offices and waiting rooms.
In addition to all of this, you’ll also find direct links to the LIRR Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages, so I’d say it’s well worth checking up on these pages every so often to make sure you’re kept in the loop of any updates to the service.
The MTA Long Island Rail Road has done a splendid job with LIRR TrainTime, so if you live in an area that is serviced by these guys, I would highly recommend keeping this app handy on your iPhone and iPad.
I would imagine that a lot of people use the trains for their daily work commute, so this really is an invaluable resource of information that will enable you to quickly and easily check on the service statuses from day to day, to make sure you don’t end up late.
