100 Diggers and Excavators app review: an engaging kid's picture book

Reviews

Introduction

It seems as though the majority of kids have a fascination with construction-type vehicles and work. With that in mind the 100 Diggers and Excavators app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone provides them with a really fun and cute picture book experience that also includes videos. There are photos, audio clips, and the videos, all focused on diggers and excavators. And perhaps the best part of all about this app is that is in ad-free.

Feed Their Passion

If you have a little one who can't seem to get enough of construction vehicles this is the picture book meant for them. The book contains more than 100 photos, all of which are high-definition. As well there are 12 video clips and a number of audio clips. Parents will love that the photos are native to the app, which means you won't be stuck paying any data charges. The photos contain detail descriptions so kids don't just look at it but instead get to learn about each photo as well.

The best iPad apps for reading for kids

Because the app is meant for kids it has a child-friendly user interface that is very easy for them to use, even on their own. The app is meant for ages four and older but I see no problem with younger kids being able to use it. This app truly allows them to see these machines in action and really get a sense of what they do and how they work.

Reading Through the Book

I have a four year old son who is absolutely obsessed with construction vehicles so this app is exactly up his alley. I have found it does a really good job gaining and then keeping his attention. As a parent I really appreciate that there is a parental gate so that I don't have to worry about any purchases being made when I'm not around.

The best iPad apps for cartoon lovers

When you launch the app you will be able to begin the story immediately. Right away the quality of the photos is evident as they are beautiful and sharp. Kids will however, definitely need mom and dad’s help with this one when it comes to the descriptions. As you look at the photos there is scrolling text along the bottom of the page that the adults will likely need to read for them. One thing I have an issue with here is that the text scrolls rather quickly, almost too fast to follow.
